How to Outwit Food Cravings

No matter for what reason you are dieting, to get physical fitness, for medical causes or for a healthy lifestyle, you need discipline and willpower to overcome all the temptations and desire. You have to make your taste still alive even during and after dieting. It is really tough to avoid the temptation of eating a pizza or a scoop of tasty and creamy ice cream. This is a known fact that everyone likes food. However it is not necessary to give up all the temptation that comes in front of you. If you seriously want to maintain your diet and hard to find the way to control your cravings, here are some tips to help you out.

1.    Get enough sleep: Studies have found that people who sleep less are more likely to get carvings and hunger. When they sleep less their hunger points to high degrees to cover the lack of sleep or missed hours. Scientifically it has confirmed that when people sleep less there will be an imbalance of the hormones, body will less produce the leptin hormone which makes hunger to go down to the large extent. The hormone ghrelin that causes carving will increase and you feel more hunger throughout the day.

2.    Chew gum: Many times you feel suddenly that you are hungry. It is most common in human that hunger pang will attacks you suddenly and many people fail to control these hunger pangs. If it happens to you and you fail to control get a piece of gum and start chewing it. Recent studies have shown the by chewing a gum one can control the appetite considerably and thus can reduce the carving for a meals or any eatable.

3.    Drink water: Many people have experience that appetite can be satisfied just by filling the stomach so if you do not want to fill it with the food then drink stomach full of water. As you know water keeps the body hydrated also helps to throw the toxin out of the body. Whenever you feel hungry and you don’t want to eat anything then drink 1 or 2 glasses of water so that you can calm down your carving.

4.    Distract your mind: Carvings are the signals from the brain to the taste and nose to making you tempt for a specific type of food. This is just a psychological feeling nothing related to the hunger. The best way to outwit your brain is distracting it from that. Try to concentrate on some other things and avoid the hunger pang.

These are the ways to outwit your food carvings but do not outwit the carvings that occur due to real and natural hunger when your tummy is really empty. At that time eat some healthy food and satisfy your hunger.
