Health Care System & Plan

Health Care

Everyone, at some time in his or her life, will need to seek medical care. The American health care system is a billion dollar industry, and it discards people that can’t afford its services. The current health care system is divided into two groups–health care for the insured and no health care or limited care for the uninsured. The kind of medical and personal care that an individual receives under the current Americanhealth care system depends on the person’s insurance status. In the land of equal opportunity, segregation is still practiced. Many practitioners refuse to work with uninsured people, and won’t allow them to pay for medical care on a monthly payment plan. This additional exclusion prevents thousands of Americans from obtaining necessary health care. The Americanhealth care system has become so convoluted and expensive that American citizens are forced to seek health care outside the United States. Places like Argentina, Singapore, Manila, Bangalore, and Costa Rica provide high quality, low cost health care to American citizens that America should be providing to its own people.

Believe it or not, America boasts some of the world’s best doctors, the most advanced health care system, and the most technically superior resources in the world, bar none. Those who travel globally and have gotten sick know that their first choice for treatment would be in the U.S. Though health care in America is, more expensive than any other country, many of the worlds wealthiest come to the U.S for surgical procedures and complex care, because it holds a worldwide reputation for the gold standard in health care. One of the greatest mis-conceptions some people have relied on with regard to the health care debate is that, given a universalhealth care system , every person in the U.S. would receive the highest quality health care – the kind our nation is renowned for and that we currently receive.

Though our nation’s economy has recently lost millions of jobs, the health care industry has continued to add them. Not surprisingly, unions are eager to sign up health care workers. In the last 10 years, the rate of union wins in the health care industry has grown faster than the national average. Unions are uniting to lobby for labor-friendly legislation to promote increased union membership in the health care sector. The following article provides an overview of the major unions involved in the health care industry, as well as strategies to ensure your organization is prepared and remains successful. The coalition also encourages workers to unionize on an industry-wide basis, consolidating smaller unions within larger unions.

Health Care Reform and American Politics: What Everyone Needs to Know Reviews

Health Care Reform and American Politics: What Everyone Needs to Know

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed by President Obama in March 2010 is a landmark in U.S. social legislation. The new law extends health insurance to nearly all Americans, fulfilling a century-long quest and bringing the United States to parity with other industrial nations. Affordable Care aims to control rapidly rising health care costs and promises to make the United States more equal, reversing four decades of rising disparities between the very rich and everyone else. Millions of people of modest means will gain new benefits and protections from insurance company abuses - and the tab will be paid by privileged corporations and the very rich.

How did such a bold reform effort pass in a polity wracked by partisan divisions and intense lobbying by special interests? What does Affordable Care mean - and what comes next? In Health Care Reform and American Politics: What Everyone Needs to Know, Lawrence R. Jacobs and Theda Skocpol--two of the nation's leading experts on politics and health care policy--provide a concise and accessible overview. They explain the political battles of 2009 and 2010, highlighting White House strategies, the deals Democrats cut with interest groups, and the impact of agitation by Tea Partiers and progressives. Jacobs and Skocpol spell out what the new law can do for everyday Americans, what it will cost, and who will pay. Above all, they explain what comes next, as critical yet often behind-the-scenes battles rage over implementing reform nationally and in the fifty states. Affordable Care might end up being weakened. But, like Social Security and Medicare, it could also gain strength and popularity as the majority of Americans learn what it can do for them.

Living Wills and Health Care Directives – What is Involved?

Health Care

Article by Blake Vanderhyde

The following is an example of a Health Care Directive (many people still refer to this as a Living Will). It is broken down into 3 basic parts. 1) Appointment of the Health Care Agent. 2) Health Care Instructions. 3) Making the Document Legal. Like most legal documents, it can be a bit confusing and overwhelming. The purpose for making this easily available to the public is simple. To help people know what to expect before contacting a lawyer and having him or her draft a directive for them. Nobody likes thinking about their demise or incapacity. However, dealing with such issues is a necessary part of life.

This example should not be used as a substitute for getting solid legal advice from a licensed attorney. Every individual is different. Please consult a lawyer in your area to discuss your specific estate planning needs.

HEALTH CARE DIRECTIVE

I, ___________________________________, understand this document allows me to do One or both of the following:

PART I: Name another person (called the health care agent) to make health care decisions for me if I am unable to decide or speak for myself. My health care agent must make health care decisions for me based on the instructions I provide in this document (Part II), if any, the wishes I have made known to him or her, or must act in my best interest if I have not made my health care wishes known.

And/or

PART II: Give health care instructions to guide others making health care decisions for me. If I have named a health care agent, these instructions are to be used by the agent. These instructions may also be used by my health care providers, others assisting with my health care and my family, in the event I cannot make decisions for myself.

PART I: APPOINTMENT OF HEALTH CARE AGENT

This is who I want to make health care decisions for me if I am unable to decide or speak for myself (I know I can change my agent or alternate agent at any time and I know I do not have to appoint an agent or an alternate agent)

NOTE: If you appoint an agent, you should discuss this health care directive with your agent and give your agent a copy. If you do not wish to appoint an agent, you may leave Part I blank and go to Part II.

When I am unable to decide or speak for myself, I trust and appoint ___________________ to make health care decisions for me. This person is called my health care agent. Relationship of my health care agent to me: ___________________ Telephone number of my health care agent: _________________________ Address of my health care agent: _________________________(OPTIONAL) APPOINTMENT OF ALTERNATE HEALTH CARE AGENT: If my health care agent is not reasonably available, I trust and appoint _________________ to be my health care agent instead. Relationship of my alternate health care agent to me: ___________________________Telephone number of my alternate health care agent: ___________________________ Address of my alternate health care agent: ___________________________

THIS IS WHAT I WANT MY HEALTH CARE AGENT TO BE ABLE TODO IF I AM UNABLE TO DECIDE OR SPEAK FOR MYSELF (I know I can change these choices)

My health care agent is automatically given the powers listed below in (A) through (D). My health care agent must follow my health care instructions in this document or any other instructions I have given to my agent. If I have not given health care instructions, then my agent must act in my best interest. Whenever I am unable to decide or speak for myself, my health care agent has the power to:

(A) Make any health care decision for me. This includes the power to give, refuse, or withdraw consent to any care, treatment, service, or procedures. This includes deciding whether to stop or not start health care that is keeping me or might keep me alive, and deciding about intrusive mental health treatment.

(B) Choose my health care providers.

(C) Choose where I live and receive care and support when those choices relate to my health care needs.

(D) Review my medical records and have the same rights that I would have to give my medical records to other people.

If I DO NOT want my health care agent to have a power listed above in (A) through (D) OR if I want to LIMIT any power in (A) through (D), I MUST say that here:

______________________________________________________________________

My health care agent is NOT automatically given the powers listed below in (1) and (2). If I WANT my agent to have any of the powers in (1) and (2), I must INITIAL the line in front of the power; then my agent WILL HAVE that power.

______ (1) To decide whether to donate any parts of my body, including organs, tissues, and eyes, when I die.

______ (2) To decide what will happen with my body when I die (burial, cremation). If I want to say anything more about my health care agent’s powers or limits on the powers, I can say it here: ________________________________________________________________________

PART II: HEALTH CARE INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Complete this Part II if you wish to give health care instructions. If you appointed an agent in Part I, completing this Part II is optional but would be very helpful to your agent. However, if you chose not to appoint an agent in Part I, you MUST complete some or all of this Part II if you wish to make a valid health care directive.

These are instructions for my health care when I am unable to decide or speak for myself. These instructions must be followed (so long as they address my needs).

THESE ARE MY BELIEFS AND VALUES ABOUT MY HEALTH CARE(I know I can change these choices or leave any of them blank)

I want you to know these things about me to help you make decisions about my health care:

My goals for my health care: ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My fears about my health care: ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My spiritual or religious beliefs and traditions: ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My beliefs about when life would be no longer worth living: ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My thoughts about how my medical condition might affect my family:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

THIS IS WHAT I WANT AND DO NOT WANT FOR MY HEALTH CARE

(I know I can change these choices or leave any of them blank) Many medical treatments may be used to try to improve my medical condition or to prolong my life. Examples include artificial breathing by a machine connected to a tube in the lungs, artificial feeding or fluids through tubes, attempts to start a stopped heart, surgeries, dialysis, antibiotics, and blood transfusions. Most medical treatments can be tried for a while and then stopped if they do not help. I have these views about my health care in these situations: (Note: You can discuss general feelings, specific treatments, or leave any of them blank)

If I had a reasonable chance of recovery, and were temporarily unable to decide or speak for myself, I would want: ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

If I were dying and unable to decide or speak for myself, I would want: ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

If I were permanently unconscious and unable to decide or speak for myself, I would want:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

If I were completely dependent on others for my care and unable to decide or speak for myself, I would want:….. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In all circumstances, my doctors will try to keep me comfortable and reduce my pain. This is how I feel about pain relief if it would affect my alertness or if it could shorten my life:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

There are other things that I want or do not want for my health care, if possible:

Who I would like to be my doctor:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Weight Management with Body Cleansing

In order to get rid of the excess weight or manage it appropriately, a lot of experts have recommended making use of a multifaceted program. Such a program would include a body cleansing or a mild detoxification program as well as a combination of proper diet and exercises.

Fat Burning Process

Body cleansing facilitates the body to get rid of all the toxins and may possibly help to ease out a series of symptoms that you might be experiencing due to the improper diets and nutrient intake. Such symptoms lead to the gaining of the weight, fatigue, headaches, improper digestion, bloating of the stomach, skin problems, inappropriate bowel movements, excessive food cravings and even mood swings.

A majority of the diet fixes promote the use of pills, lotions and powders in order to lose the excess weight from the body. This is achieved only through the use of all those ingredients that are harmful to the body in terms of the long term effects. Such ingredients include ephedrine, ma huang, nicotine as well as caffeine and the loss of weight from the body is merely water. In some cases, the loss is also the lean muscle and not the actual weight. It is important to know that the fat is stored deep in the body along with a range of toxins and other harmful chemicals and cannot be removed by such medicines.

Ephedrine is a nasal decongestant and that happens to come from the Chinese plant known as ephedra and ma huang is something that is being used by the herbalist since years. Most of these weight loss medicines make use of either of these medicines and hence can cause a lot of harmful effects if taken in larger quantities. The US Food & Drug Administration has listed over 800 cases of illness due to the consumption of such chemicals and can also lead to illnesses such as vertigo, insomnia, stroke, cardiac arrests and even hemorrhage.

Most of these body cleaning procedures have been prescribed as an alternative to the products that contain the dangerous compounds for the body. On the other hand, the extreme forms of cleansing such as the colonic irrigations that make use of loads of water, herbal teas or even coffee in order to rinse out the intestines are merely harsh forms of cleansing and can also lead to infection or perforation. You can use the gentle body cleansers that make use of the blended nutrients that are safe and natural. These are responsible for not only cleaning the toxic elements from the innermost tissues of the body but are also responsible for melting away fat at an effective pace.

Proper hydration

In addition to using the safe body cleansing products, sweat can be one of the best ways in order to detoxify and lose weight. Exercise can lead to a lot of perspiration and helps in removing the toxins from the skin. Hence you must properly hydrate yourself during any workout and prevent the creation of toxins.

Nutrition and Diet

Reducing the consumption of the junk foods can be one of the easiest and the safest ways to minimize the toxic load and get rid of the weight.

This engages staying away from tobacco and too much alcohol, caffeine, waterlogged fats, elevated fat dairy products and sophisticated sugars. In addition, it is imperative to add to your fiber intake with grains, fruits and vegetables so as to encourage extra customary removal. Inner cleansing can as well be easy by fasting for small periods of time with the advice of your medical practitioner.

A balanced approach

For the duration of weight loss, it is significant to sanitize the “toxic emotions” in addition. This may perhaps consist of the use of profound breathing workouts, or yoga and would certainly help you achieve the desired results.

Nutritional Proteins – body building unit

Nutritional Proteins are one of the primary requirements of human body. It is considered to be one of the body building units. The deficiency of protein will reduce the immunity system of a person and make him prone to several types of diseases.

Proteins are the primary component required to build strong muscles and repair tissue. It is a type of nutrient that is made up of amino acids. The process of providing nutrition to body through consumption of protein involves breaking down of it into smaller units through process of digestion that will ultimately result to release of amino acids which is required by body.

There are several food items existing in the world that provides large content of protein. Fish tops the list of these good items with rich content of protein. Other than this dairy product, milk, meat, green leafy vegetables, peas, beef, tofu, soy products, oats etc also provide protein content to people to help them in building their level of strength.

The market is full of Nutritional proteins or its supplements in different forms like powder, tablets, capsules etc. These supplements provide high content of protein that is required for building strong muscles and exercises of it. People who go for gym and various other tough exercises in order to make their bones and muscles strong are recommended to have these protein supplements in order to fulfill the extra need of their bodies. Every person should carefully analyze the ingredients involved in making these protein supplements, process of manufacture, reliability of company offering it etc so that he can choose that supplements that satisfy their demand within the resources available in hand.

How to Outwit Food Cravings

No matter for what reason you are dieting, to get physical fitness, for medical causes or for a healthy lifestyle, you need discipline and willpower to overcome all the temptations and desire. You have to make your taste still alive even during and after dieting. It is really tough to avoid the temptation of eating a pizza or a scoop of tasty and creamy ice cream. This is a known fact that everyone likes food. However it is not necessary to give up all the temptation that comes in front of you. If you seriously want to maintain your diet and hard to find the way to control your cravings, here are some tips to help you out.

1.    Get enough sleep: Studies have found that people who sleep less are more likely to get carvings and hunger. When they sleep less their hunger points to high degrees to cover the lack of sleep or missed hours. Scientifically it has confirmed that when people sleep less there will be an imbalance of the hormones, body will less produce the leptin hormone which makes hunger to go down to the large extent. The hormone ghrelin that causes carving will increase and you feel more hunger throughout the day.

2.    Chew gum: Many times you feel suddenly that you are hungry. It is most common in human that hunger pang will attacks you suddenly and many people fail to control these hunger pangs. If it happens to you and you fail to control get a piece of gum and start chewing it. Recent studies have shown the by chewing a gum one can control the appetite considerably and thus can reduce the carving for a meals or any eatable.

3.    Drink water: Many people have experience that appetite can be satisfied just by filling the stomach so if you do not want to fill it with the food then drink stomach full of water. As you know water keeps the body hydrated also helps to throw the toxin out of the body. Whenever you feel hungry and you don’t want to eat anything then drink 1 or 2 glasses of water so that you can calm down your carving.

4.    Distract your mind: Carvings are the signals from the brain to the taste and nose to making you tempt for a specific type of food. This is just a psychological feeling nothing related to the hunger. The best way to outwit your brain is distracting it from that. Try to concentrate on some other things and avoid the hunger pang.

These are the ways to outwit your food carvings but do not outwit the carvings that occur due to real and natural hunger when your tummy is really empty. At that time eat some healthy food and satisfy your hunger.
